Ever since I decided to embark on this journey and get certified as a wedding planner through the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada (WPIC), it's been a great ride, and in the past couple of weeks I've had the opportunity to attend a number of networking events that remind me why I'm doing this 🙂
Last week was the first time I attended a WPIC networking event. It was their 2013 alumni kickoff event, and being surrounded by 128 fellow alumni/wedding planners was rejuvenating! It was a great opportunity to meet like-minded, passionate, driven wedding industry professionals.
The event took place at the Renaissance by the Creek in Mississauga, where we were greeted by a signature Cotton Candy Martini to start things off! Dinner was a delicious 3-course meal, and I pretty much ate everything on my plate!
We were also treated to a guest panel of industry speakers who shared advice on maintaining a work/life balance, and shared their business experiences. Even though many of us run our own businesses and work "solo", I was reminded how important it is to have a support group, and this is what WPIC alumni are to me. I have met fellow planners who I now consider friends, there's a camaraderie amongst us and support network that is invaluable.
Thank you to WPIC for a fun evening out, and great entertainment by Shugga (from Fusion Events)!
